Welcome to The Wedding Party. Good Luck Finding a Dress.

4.21.2010 WRITTEN BY Ashley T+P Blog Central

I never thought this day would come, the day I’d hear those five lovely words: Will you be my bridesmaid? It feels like an honor to be a part of my longtime friend’s big day, and I’m utterly thrilled to do all the fun, girly bridesmaidy stuff. With the hope to save her friends from the annoyance of purchasing a lilac/coral/peach dress that’s only worthy of one-time wear, the bride-to-be has instructed us to pick out the dress of our choice. The only requirements: It has to be knee length, black and satin. Sounds easy, right? That’s what I thought, until I realized that there are eight of us (yes, count them eight bridesmaids!!) in need of eight unique dresses.

Scrambling to get my hands on a suitable dress before another maiden nabs it, I’m currently in the process of hunting down the perfect dress that’s both wedding appropriate and stylish enough for cocktail parties, New Year’s Eve bashes, etc. Needless to say, the task has not been easy, especially since the majority of the bridal party has the same taste and budget.

After trying on a handful of disappointments and falling in love with a couple frocks that have already been bagged, I think I’ve finally found THE ONE. Beautifully detailed with a crisscross neckline, fitted bodice and tulip skirt, this BCBG LBD fits the bridesmaid bill (oh, and if you’re wondering about the length, my legs are definitely not long enough to make it look that short).

Now that I have the bride’s blessing with my choice of attire, I can’t wait to see what the eight of us ladies look like standing in a row at the alter, each unique in our own way. Although this is my first wedding, it won’t be the last time you see me in this dress.
