Tuesday Tip: One Dress-3 Different Ways

Today’s Tuesday Tip is about working with what you got and creating entire new looks using nothing more than a little creativity and a few new accessories.

We were inspired to take on this challenge when the lovely folks from Twice asked us to style 3 cocktail dresses to be featured at their 3-2-1 Sunday Swap event this past weekend. We were not only flattered but thrilled to get to participate as on-site stylists as well. And of course, we had to take it a step further and come up with not one, but three unique looks for each of the amazing dresses they had scored.

Our team of stylists put their heads together and within a day or two we had some fabulous ideas. The first dress was this  beautiful black and gold ruffled halter dress from Juicy. After much deliberation, we picked these three concepts: Rocker Glam, Spanish Nights, and GoldFinger.

We dressed the mannequin at the event in ‘Rocker Glam.’  We paired the dress with an Alice + Olivia leather jacket with gold hardware and these amazing stiletto booties from Herve Leger. What do you think?

We created style boards for our other two concepts: Spanish Nights and GoldFinger.

The 2nd dress was this adorable strapless BCBG bubble dress.  Our threee concepts were Furbulous (featured below), Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Mad Men Style. For ‘Furbulous’, we added a faux fur stole, a gorgeous BCBG necklace and these two-tone t-strapped heels from Steve Madden, the backs of them have spike embellishments, which gave the look a little surprise edge.

Here’s a closer peek at the style boards:

The 3rd dress was this stunning Maggy London number–it just screamed Great Gatsby, and who were we to argue? We styled with a modern long pearl necklace, silver fishnets and some vintage silver mary janes from Maureen’s closet.  Maureen also made the amazing feather headpiece by hand. Unbelievable right? We were struggling to find the perfect cardigan/wrap for this dress, so we brought a couple options, but on the day of the event, Jenny from Twice, walked in with this beautiful delicate ivory beaded blazer. She was kind enough to let us borrow.

Our other concepts for this dress were: Hello Rita Hayworth (40’s glam) and New Girl Inspiration, taking cues from one of our favorite gals Zooey Deschanel.

This was such a fun event to participate in. We can’t wait for the next one. If you need help styling your holiday cocktail dress or finding the perfect one and all the ways you can wear it, schedule your style consult today. We can’t wait to help.
