Trends to Watch For in 2011
As 2010 comes to a close and we look forward to a new year, it’s only appropriate that we make a few predictions for what trends will be all the rage in 2011.
*Copy Kates will define demure style: As the world eagerly awaits April 2011’s royal nuptials, you can be sure to see women all over imitating the sophisticated elegance of Prince William’s fiance Kate Middleton. The long sleeve sapphire blue Issa dress she wore during the announcement of their engagement has already been a huge hit and sold-out on Net-a-Porter.com in an hour. Our Stylists are anticipating T+P members to request lots of fitted blazers, wrap dresses and long wool coats with classic detailing.
*Color will come back with a vengeance: If 2010 felt a little muted, then get excited for very colorful seasons to come. We blogged earlier this month about the Pantone Research Institute’s pick for honeysuckle to be the top color of 2011, so we can expect to see a bright, playful palate for our wardrobes in the new year. Look out for vibrant teals and warm goldenrods to bring lightness to your ensembles.
*Ballerinas will set the bar for soft, girly fashions: Ballet, the art form that combines poise with brutal perfection, is a trend that’s taking center stage in culture in the coming year. Watch the movie Black Swan and you’ll be swept up in the femininity and beauty of the ballet world. Many designers are finding inspiration from dancer’s traditional tutus and tights, such as BCBG, which showcased a holiday collection full of ribbons, tulle skirts and wrap sweaters.
Cheers to a joyous, style-filled new year!
