The Best Belt for your Body Type
No matter the season, belts never go out of style. A fashionable belt is a great way to add interest to an outfit, but not all belts fit every body type.
Athletic body types: Medium-width belts are great for highlighting a lean frame. This body type can most easily sport belts around the hips, which adds curves to an otherwise narrow frame. In order to pull this look off with pizazz, make sure the belt is proportional to your shape.
Petite body types: The skinnier the belt the better for this body type. Petite frames look great in skinny belts wrapped around the smallest part of the waist, especially when wearing loose-fitting tops or dresses. A thin belt can add dimension to a smaller figure, making you look taller and less short-waisted.
Curvaceous body types: There’s nothing like a waist-cinching belt to show off curves. Women with rounder hips and tiny middles do best with medium-width belts. You can dare to go a little wider with your belt, but make sure it enhances your waist line rather than add bulk to your silhouette, as demonstrated so elegantly by Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks.
