Three New Places for a Family Vacation
Since some of us are moms here at Tog + Porter, we know the term ‘family vacation’ can make some of you cringe. Well, stop picturing National Lampoon’s Vacation, and start picturing the perfect combination of relaxation and entertainment. We’ve got three family vacations where you can bond with the kids AND with your husband. And don’t worry, we’re telling you what to pack as well!
1.) Go on a Cruise – Cruises have come a long way in the last few years. The food has gotten better, the destinations more interesting, and some cruise lines even have specific programs for kids! Check out Norwegian Cruise Lines for some great kids programs! Be sure to pack a comfy dress and flat sandals, those ships are bigger than you think.
2.) Check out a Resort- The new Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii looks perfect for families. It’s basically a cruise vacation for those of you who like to stay on dry land. There are plenty of kids activities to keep them occupied including art and nature tours and hula dancing (I spy a photo-op!) We love this easy striped dress for taking you from the pool to the beach (your kids won’t be able to pick just one!). Throw on a big hat and a tote bag full of toys and be outside all day, don’t forget your sunscreen!
3.) Visit Austin, TX! My favorite way to travel with kids is to use AirBNB, it’s usually cheaper than a hotel suite and far more interesting. The biggest plus to renting a house is the extra space. You don’t have to share a bedroom with the kids, so you and your husband can stay up late, drinking wine, and reconnecting. If you are really brave, go glamping in this Geo Dome! Be woken by the chickens at 6:30 (we are talking real chickens, not your little ones) and bonus, free yoga! I know my two-year-old would feel right at home there. You can also rent the main house as well. If you are a little more traditional, there are tons of cute bungalows. And be sure to check out the famous Barton cold springs, because it will be HOT!
