Summer, sun and sand bring so much joy, but if you’re a woman planning to get some Vitamin D – this combo also brings about anxiety. The forever fashion question: which is worse, shopping for denim or swimwear?  While we can’t be sure, Tog + Porter is here to help take away at least a little of the dilemma.

MarilynSwimwear, like style, goes through changes. Throughout the years we’ve seen an evolution from one piece, to barely there and back – this summer’s style is all about YOU. What works best on your body type and what is most figure flattering.

History of the SwimsuitHere are some tips :

1. For full hips, keep the focus off the bottom.  Draw the eye up with an exciting top and subdued bottom and also try a higher cut to elongate the leg.

2. For a fuller bust buy the bra.  A triangle top is not the best fit for a supportive style.  Something with an underwire or hidden bra as well as a lower cut is the best choice.  Also, add more interest to the

bottoms, so the focus is not all chest high.

3. On the contrary for a smaller bust, add some texture.  Ruffles, beads, pleats and a push up!

4. To slim the stomach, avoid a high shine.  Matte fabrics, full suits (not tankinis) and deep cuts (high leg or low bust) are the most figure flattering.

From runways to real-life, and our swim style icons – the trick to the bathing suit is highlighting your favorite feature and creating your swim style around your confidence.
