Suit-Up For Spring with Tog & Porter

2.02.2010 WRITTEN BY Ashley T+P Blog Central

Spring is just around the corner. Soon we’ll get to hang up our heavy outerwear, peel off a few layers, and show off the stylish blouses and bottoms we’ve been hiding under sweaters for the last few months. To help you segue into the new season, here are the top springtime trends to look out for.

Denim: The denim trend of the moment is the jean legging. Although this spring-friendly style can be easily be paired with flats and T-shirts, it can also be worn with boots as you transition out of winter weather. The Sienna Legging by William Rast (pictured right) has been a top seller and is reasonably priced at $155. Worn-in and ruffed-up boyfriend capris are also a big hit for spring.

Tops & Blouses: The trend started with plaid, but now oversize menswear shirts are available in softer colors and more feminine fabrics, such as the blouse pictured by Splendid. These loose-fitting tops are great as a springtime staple and can be easily dressed up or down.

Dress-wear: Designers like Dolce Vita and BCBG have combined the slim-fitting skirt with delicate tops and tanks to create an ultra flattering dress look that resembles a two-piece ensemble. A tip for working this style into your wardrobe while it’s still cold out is by adding tights and a boyfriend blazer.

Slowly adding springtime pieces into your wardrobe is a great way to freshen up your look and be “fashionably early” when it comes to the season’s best trends.
