Celebrate Christmas & New Year’s in One Dress
Wow, Christmas and New Year’s are suddenly here and you still don’t know what to wear. How did this happen? We’ll tell you . . . you’ve been running yourself ragged setting up Christmas lights, finding the perfect gifts for your loved ones, sending out holiday cards and oh yeah, wrapping those gifts too. With so much going on, who even has time to think about an outfit for every holiday party? Almost no one. But here’s a thought, what if you could wear the same dress for Christmas and New Year’s? We’re here to tell you, you can!
It’s all about that base
No, we don’t mean the song, but here’s a little insider tip to help you glide through the holidays – you don’t need a different outfit for every party or holiday. Make it easy and cost efficient for yourself by finding one great staple piece, like this winter white sweater dress by Darling. It provides a great base from a styling standpoint because of it’s color and clean lines. It also has the added bonus of being super comfy. The crystal embellishments make it instantly festive and the unique texture takes it from just your average sweater dress to event attire.
I’ll be home for Christmas
With a great staple, it’s easy to transform your look from day to night or from family appropriate to super sexy just by mixing up the accessories. For instance, this first look is perfect for Christmas dinner with the family or a holiday office party. We kept the look classy and elegant, by choosing traditional accessories you most likely already have in your closet. Some simple pearl earrings, red shoes for a pop of color and your favorite fall handbag should do the trick. We chose a red sude pump from Nine West, but flats would work too. Add an subtle dash of texture play with your favorite plaid, tartan, or animal print clutch. We chose a fun plaid one from Kate Spade that could be worn throughout the season with all black.
Ten, Nine, Eight . . .
Take your dress up a notch for New Year’s with sparkly shiny accessories. Any color shoe would go with this white, but a silver or gold strappy heel screams New Year’s. For jewelry, we chose long silver statement earrings that compliment the crystal embellishments on the dress. Be careful not to overdo it on the jewelry with a dress like this, you don’t want anything that competes with the crystals on the dress. A tear drop is always great.
We chose a hairstyle that’s sleek, flattering and won’t be destroyed by midnight. It’s also far from routine. And because New Year’s Eve only comes but once a year, we added some extra dazzle with a sequin clutch from BCBG. Any silver or gold clutch would do the trick. If you really want to be bold, top the look off with some over-the-top glitter nail polish that will look great popping open some bubbly.
