New York Fashion Week, Fall/Winter 2014 Trend Report
The fall shows at New York Fashion Week are something we at T+P look forward to all year. Sure, summer is our favorite season, but nothing compares to fall fashion. The layering, the thick, luxurious fabrics, rich colors, and cozy knits… *le sigh*
Here are a few of our favorite fall trends from NYFW:
Utilitarian details such as cargo pockets, and workman’s jackets get a sophisticated twist this fall. Designers like Alexander Wang, J. Mendel, Jason Wu and Michael Kors showed slouchy separates that look professional with a hefty dose of downtown cool.
Alexander Wang and Rebecca Taylor are just two of many designers who put a glam twist on winter sportswear. Most popular item? The oversize bomber jackets in bright, sporty hues.
Escada, DKNY, Prabal Gurung and Narcisco Rodriguez favored bright, citrusy hues this season and feminine silhouettes. From tangerine to bubblegum, there’s a flirty shade for every skin tone this fall.
Folksy embellishments at Diane von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Taylor give a flower child air to classic silhouettes. Don’t be afraid to get all 70’s on us and mix your vibrant hues with muted browns and yellows this fall, as it appears to be on trend (stay tuned for a style guide on how to rock this trend without being mistaken for one of the Partridge Family).
And last but not least, those of us who have a bit of a color phobia will be glad to know that dusty neutrals are in for fall as well as spring (thank god). These icy hues are easy on the eyes and look great layered.
