How to Wear: The Modern Suit

2.20.2013 WRITTEN BY Camilla Style Guide, T+P Blog Central

Ladies suits have seen many reinventions throughout the years. From the refined look of the 1940’s to the shoulder pads and dare I say unflattering skirt lengths of the 1980’s.

2013’s suit is sleek, modern, and offers a variety of options.  And it certainly is not just for the office anymore.  This spring is seeing lighter color palettes and fabric options such as sky blue, mint green, and crisp white.  A seersucker shorts suit would be fresh and unaccepted attire for that next luncheon or bridal shower.

A well cut all black or all white suit with a low neckline and sparkling accessories would be a definite standout amongst the sea of cocktail dresses this spring.  In keeping with its gender bending origins, suits can consist of a tuxedo jacket, white fitted blouse, bow tie and shorts to show off those lady like gams.  The most important thing to keep top of mind when approaching the modern suit is to have a bit of fun and allow your personality to be the real standout.
