Graduation Style Guide

5.15.2013 WRITTEN BY Camilla Style Guide, T+P Blog Central

It’s mid-May and that can only mean one thing is certain: graduation season is upon us. If you’re one of the lucky ones who will be walking across the stage, then no doubt, you are already mulling over how to pull off a crowd pleasing ensemble. No need to fret. Just keep a few simple things in mind and you will hit the home run you are hoping for.

Our keen intern Angela made a very good point while we were working on this guide, “Many ladies focus on their graduation dress, but really what you see most are your shoes and accessories.” Well said, so we’ll address those first. Comfort is the most important thing to remember when deciding on footwear. A neutral pump, kitten heel or wedge is always a winning option as is a knock-your-socks-off pair of flats. To polish off your look, keep your hair and makeup soft and natural and your nails a neutral color. Also, don’t forget to iron your gown or take it to be pressed well in advance.

Now for what to wear under the gown. This advice also applies to those attending a graduation as well. The most important thing to keep top of mind is that this is an occasion for not only yourself, but for parents, grandparents, and professors. So be cute, but play it conservative. The temperatures have warmed, so a sleeveless dress with a modest hemline in a light color, floral or lace will not only keep you cool, but will make for dynamite photo ops and as Angela also pointed out “these pictures” will be hanging in your parent’s hallway FOR-EV-ER.

  • I’m really inspired along with your writing abilities as neatly as with the layout for your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it your self? Either way stay up the nice quality writing, it is rare to look a great blog like this one today..
