Finding Inspiration in Unlikely Places
Bored of reading the same old magazines? Feeling a little uninspired lately? Try looking outside of the box for inspiration. Fashion designers often find inspiration for their collections in the most unlikely places. Rick Owen’s latest Spring 2013 collection was inspired by the artists Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, as well as the the Ballets Russes and Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
Love interior design? Balmain’s Spring 2013 collection was inspired by Cuba’s black and white tile floors and wicker furniture.
It was Coco Chanel herself who said, ” Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening”. So look outside the fashion magazines. The next time something inspires you, think about why? Is it the colors? The pattern? The shapes? How can you translate this feeling into something else, like your outfit? Here’s a couple of unlikely comparisons to get you looking.
