Fall 2017 Textures

8.31.2017 WRITTEN BY Sasha Kupisk How to Wear, Inspiration, New Trends, What to Wear

Along with a change in foliage, fall brings about a new set of textures, fabrics, and prints for us to play with. This season, we’ve got fur, silk, and clashing prints to look forward to. Read on to see how to adapt the textures we saw walking down the fall 2017 runways for your everyday wardrobe.

Bright Furs

Bold and colorful statement furs were seen all over the fall 2017 runways. Giant fur jackets and stoles are a staple of old school glamour and are perfect for keeping you toasty in the chilly months ahead. Fur is an easy way to elevate any outfit. Make an entrance wearing it in the form of a coat, stole or even peeking out from your loafers.

Clashing Prints

Designers sent an array of bold color and print combinations down their fall runways. While this trend may seem intimidating, we encourage you to have some fun with it and experiment. Mixing and matching prints is an easy way to create fresh looks with pieces you already have. For everyday wear, try pairing a boldly colored blouse with an offbeat print for an adventurous combination. Another approach is to pair two different prints of the same color or from the same color family. It’s the perfect way to stand out from any crowd.

Silk

Gucci made sure silk prints had a comeback this fall and the domino effect is to die for. Silk is known for its soft texture and feminine fluidity, but we also love it for its ability to convey both a sense of relaxedness and formality at the same time. Silk also pairs easily; a soft, single-color silk blouse is so versatile you can pair it with practically any other print.

Wear your favorite summer and spring silk slips and dresses throughout the fall, by simply adding a turtleneck of long-sleeve top underneath them for warmth. If you’re really feeling adventurous, trying adding a printed blouse over or under your dress.
