Celebrating your Independence from the Kitsch!

7.04.2009 WRITTEN BY Ashley T+P Blog Central

First things first, it is extremely common for women to have “special outfits” for holidays. By special outfits I’m not referring to a beautiful cocktail dress to wear out on New Year’s Eve, rather the cringe-inducing kind.

Note the bells jingling from Rudolph’s nose stretched across your chest, the green pants you pull out one day a year to drink a pint of Guiness and the t-shirt screen-printed with an American Flag that screams – I’m going to eat hotdogs and light off fireworks tonight and oh yeah, celebrate the Declaration.

I am certainly not going to encourage you to stop expressing your independence through red, white and blue, rather give a few pointers on how to class it up and make it more versatile all year long.

The bermuda short: A classic white bermuda short will not only take you Memorial to Labor Day it will make your Fourth of July outfit planning even easier! Pair with one of the following tops for a classic, easy to wear look that screams independence from kitchy garb.

A tank with detail: A basic scoopneck tank in red with a touch of ruffle detail – you nailed it. Fun and classy all at once!

A lightweight cotton wrap:  This will get you from 4:00 bbq to 10:00 fireworks. Navy striped with hood – fantastic. You are officially prepared tomake a good impression on the 4th. No one wil l be creating theme parties around your holiday garb any longer.

Wishing you a safe and happy holiday!
