Maybe it’s her amazing hair, gorgeous smile or ridiculous fit body, but there’s something about this woman that we love and want.
I set off on Monday for a bi-annual trip to Vegas for Project, MAGIC, ENK, basically a massive showcase of designers. This is one of those trips I have to pack meticulously for because while in the Mecca of the stylish, I also have to remember I’ll be walking for about 8 hours a day. Then of course I still have to walk to dinner, at which point I’d like to look pretty fabulous, so heels are most definitely required. I’m also one of those annoying people who must be able to take every single look I pack from day-to-night with a shoe and/or top change. I loathe baggage fees (remember the good old days of rampant over-packing because we could!). Anyway, I refuse to pay to check my bags.

Mentally, I’ve prepared, but are my clothes clean or bags packed? Um no. So, here you are, lucky enough to help me pack. Here’s what I have planned for Valentine’s Day. So lucky my husband gets to come along this time! Hope this gives you a little inspiration next week too! Take a peek at our Pinterest boardsto see more outfits we’ve pulled together. All styles excluding watch (MICHAEL Michael Kors) and hairstyles (see below) are via Tog+Porter.

From chunky sweaters to maxi coats, there are so many great choices in outerwear this fall, it’s hard to know which one will work best for you. To help make the decision a little less daunting and far more thrilling, T+P stylist, Camilla, takes you through the top picks for fall/winter 2011. . .

Chunky Sweaters

A must for every wardrobe. The chunky sweater is such a versatile piece. It may be the only thing you need or it can be worn under a heavier coat for an extra layer of warmth. Rachel Pally is known for their insanely comfortable knit jersey pieces and their sweaters are equally as divine. Chunky Cardigan in black by Rachel Pally ($275).

Leather

Oh, how I love a great leather jacket! This fall, the edgier the leather jacket, the better. Think slightly distressed leather, zippers and a slight crop. A piece like this can be worn with jeans or with a fun dress or skirt. Distressed Leather Moto Jacket by MICHAEL Michael Kors ($398).

Belted

The belted coat casts such a great slimming effect. Be it a short or long version, the effect is the same. The belted coat is a great choice if you are looking for dressier outerwear. Two of my picks are the Josie Hooded Jacket in camel by BB Dakota ($130) and the Notched Collar Coat in rust by Ellen Tracy ($278).

Bright Hues

Think brilliant blue, bright yellow, fuchsia, and lipstick red. A brightly colored coat is a great way to give your muted fall wardrobe a bit of a punch. New York Belted Trench by Kenneth Cole ($106.90).

Capes

I love the unexpected presence of a cape. Pick one up in a great plaid, in winter white wool, or even in the form of a heavy sweater like this one below. Poncho Sweater by Rachel Pally ($264).

Maxi

The long, maxi coat is the perfect go to for those extra cold climates. The maxi is also one of the chicest outerwear choices with its long lines and clean silhouette. Camel or Black is the perfect color choices for this classic look. Dedrick Long Overcoat by BB Dakota ($145).

If you’d like one of our stylists to pick out some great outerwear and other fall pieces just for you, sign up with Tog+Porter and stylist will be in touch shortly.

Fortunately, there are great designers and your very own T+P stylists who know how to take trends with a grain of salt, interpreting the looks in a way that means you can score some serious fashion credibility without looking like a walking circus act.

“Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all. “

~ Stanley Horowitz

As we welcome the upcoming fall season, the shades of autumn are indeed a beautiful mosaic of rich colors, vibrant brights and saturated hues. So, as you are ramping up your wardrobe with the change of the season, these are the must colors for those key pieces you will be looking to add:

Bordeaux

Ahhhh…you will feel like a fine vintage in this rich shade of red. Bordeaux is a great color for almost every complexion and can be worn as an accent to give your simple outfit a much-needed punch. However, it is perfection personified when worn in a statement piece like this Velvet by Graham and Spencer top, $93.

Midnight Blue

Such a simple, yet elegant color. Midnight Blue can be worn in place of black and is versatile enough for both day and night. Be it in the form of a suit for the office or a silk blouse with jeans and heels for a dinner out with friends. Bordeaux does it perfectly with this off-the-shoulder number.

Orange

Orange is not always the easiest color to pull off, but when it is done right, it casts a stunning effect. Orange, like Bordeaux, is spectacular as an accent piece. Think scarf, coat, pumps, bangles, or one of my favorites for this fall, The Paige Premium Skyline Peg in Flare, $149.

Bronze

This brilliant color is one of my all time favorites. It can take the form of matte or shiny, both leaving an impression whether in the form of a dress, top or even your nail polish. Check out Coquettish Brown from Shu Uemura

Time to embrace your body and start dressing it with love.
Summer can be pretty darn illuminating when it comes to the things we don’t like about our bodies, shining a literal bright light on every little spot we wish was smooth as silk. Here’s the reality check. We all have them. Cellulite on thighs, stomachs that are less than washboard worthy, fair skin, dark skin, freckles, age spots. It’s time to stop harping on the bad and start dressing your assets with the confidence that you are beautiful (as Mr. Mark Darcy of Bridget Jones would say) “Just as you are.”

Pear:

Bigger booty, smaller waist, shoulders and bust.

Famous Pear: Jennifer Lopez.

This body type typically looks fantastic in dresses, specifically wrap dresses or loose chiffon dresses fitted on top or belted at the waist or ribcage. Beware of dress that pull across the hips. When shopping for denim look primarily for boot or wide leg jeans. You can do a skinny, but keep in mind that the skinny and tunic length top may not do you any favors as tops that fit your shoulders and bust may cling to your bum. T+P highly recommends a look like this, which emphasize your smaller waist, while balancing your lower half:

Inverted Triangle:

Broad shoulders, often moderate to large bust, straight waist and limited difference between hip and waist measurements.

Famous Inverted Triangle: Jessica Simpson

Often a very athletic build that can be tricky to dress, especially when you want a more feminine edge. The key, like dressing any shape, is balance. You too can wear a skinny, bootcut or wide leg pant. Balance out your skinnies with longer, tunic length tops that will elongate your torso and draw attention to your hips and legs. Here’s another great combo an Inverted Triangle can wear.

Hourglass:

Proportional bust to hips, with an itty bitty waist in between.

Famous Hourglass: Sofia Vergara.

We don’t like you. Just kidding, we do, that’s just jealousy talking. This body type seems like it should be easy to dress, but there are a few challenges — pants that gap at the waist, tops that hang over your waist rather than defining it. Many hourglass shapes have a similar problem as Pears, they feel like they constantly need to be wearing fitted tops to show off their waist. Remember, it’s a fine line between dressing your entire body well and only focusing on one part. Try a blousy top belted or a wrap dress that skims your waist. Again, any pant shape should work for you and as far as gapping in the waist goes — find an alterations professional and become her best friend. A great seamstress will take in the waist on your pants and it will look like they’ve never been touched.

Straight:

Little to no waist definition, hip to shoulder ratio equal.

Famous Straight: Cameron Diaz

Look for pieces that create the illusion of curves — stripes and prints are a perfect cure for the straight waist. If anyone can wear a skinny jean, it’s you. A simple, easy to pull together look pairs a patterned blouse with a straight or skinny dark wash denim or pant. Straight bodies can certainly pull off a wide leg or bootcut as well, the key is to create some curve inducing magic by adding a wide hip belt or adding texture or pattern on top.

Apple:

Broader through shoulders and torso, thinner thighs and legs. Typically stores weight around the middle, with limited waist definition.

Famous Apple: Catherine Zeta Jones

Often times apple shapes have very nice thighs and legs. Draw attention to this asset with pencil and a-line skirts or sheath dresses. Apples should avoid belting at the waist and look for jackets with detail like an exposed zipper straight up the middle or sweaters that lay open in front to create a nice long line. Longer tunic styles are a better fit for apples than blousy, short tops which tend to create a top heavy look. Try monochromatic tops and bottoms (all black for example) with a pop of color or detail in your jacket or sweater to balance your top and bottom. Scoop and V-Necklines with trim, lace or other detail will draw attention up. Avoid boatneck tops at all costs!

Request an appointment with a T+P Stylist today!

Lurking in the back of your closet, hidden from view, waiting in the shadows until that fateful morning when you are hunting for your favorite fuchsia maxi dress and….AAARRGH there they are. The clothes that, despite our best efforts, just aren’t working. The embellished tank that never really coordinated with anything else. That gorgeous pair of charcoal gray wool pants that accidently did a cycle in the dryer and are now an inch too short. Your favorite high-waisted pencil skirt that, on a post-baby body, looks more scary than flattering. These beautiful pieces are now relegated to the back of the closet, mocking you as you try to find something you actually CAN wear.

After my daughter was born, I was overwhelmed with the amount of clothing hiding in my closet that simply no longer fit my body or my lifestyle. The problem was, I LOVED these clothes, and even though I couldn’t justify hanging onto them anymore, I actually had an emotional attachment to these pieces! How to “get rid of them,” without actually “getting rid of them?” I came up with a quick solution; I had no time to do a full closet purge, but I would do a mini one!

I grabbed three shopping bags, and divided and conquered. My absolute favorite pieces, the ones that I just couldn’t part with, went to people I knew would appreciate them as much as I had. I could even see my too-short-for-me pants fit perfectly on my awesome best bud. The clothes that still had tags (oops) and those that weren’t going to work for anyone I knew, got consigned, which was like getting paid to purge! Feel like a donation is more up your alley? Dress for Success would love to have your gently worn professional clothes. Find a location by clicking here.

Lastly, one tiny box is now stored in my basement, next to my husband’s golf clubs. This is the box of clothes that aren’t even worth anything, really, except for sentimental value. They don’t need to hang out in my closet, and I made a promise to myself that I cannot use this basement box as “extra storage space,” just a place to keep treasured items.

Enjoy your newfound closet space and check back in on your closet every six months. Anything you haven’t worn, toss it in a bag. Give it a week to see if you can’t live without it, otherwise say adios and add some new spice to your closet.

Happy purging!

Based in the heart of Texas, Camilla knows a thing or two about the heat and brings her expertise to your soles in her Ultimate Flip Flop Guide 2011.

“Then followed that beautiful season, called by the pious Acadian peasants the Summer of All-Saints! Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape lay as if new-created in all the freshness of childhood.” ~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

As we bask in the summer season filled with that dreamy and magical light, our feet are crying out to be freed from the confines of those enclosed shoes we have worn all fall and winter long. And what better way to let freedom ring than with a nifty pair of flip flops! The outstanding thing about these easy to wear shoes, which have been gracing feet since the 1930s, is that they come in loads of colors, prints, and most importantly, price points. Here are my top picks for Summer 2011:

Old Navy

Ranging in price from $3.50-$9.50 and available in a wide variety of colors and prints, you can afford to have several pairs lying around to throw on as you head outdoors. These basics are sold out almost everywhere, so snatch up a few pairs fast.

TKEES

Coming in at $48.00, I am drawn to the muted color palette these lovelies. Known as foundation for your feet, the neutral skin tones are meant to lengthen your legs.

Tory Burch Foundation Flip Flop

Tory’s signature flip-flop has been adorning many a feet for the past few summers. You can pick up an iconic pair for $45.00 in a variety of colors and prints.

Missoni for Havaianas

My favorites of this season, Havaianas partnered with Missoni to create a limited edition flip flop for $70.00 a pair. I have been wearing mine all summer long and am hard pressed to take them off!

Bernardo

Spotted more than once on one of our favorite T+P Style Icons, Reese Witherspoon, the Bernardo leather flip flop is adored for is simplicity, comfort and sophistication. Paired with everything from a maxi dress to denim shorts, this shoe is positively versatile at $109.

Gucci

For a more dressed up feel, Gucci offers their signature green/red web with their double G ornament. At $350.00, you will want to take extra special care of these beauties to wear for several summers to come.
